This week Estefanía Aguilar and Carlos Granell, from GEOTEC are attending FOSS4G Europe conference https://foss4g-europe.osgeopt.pt/ , held in Guimares (Portugal).
GEOTEC will give an oral presentation titled “EO4GEO: Is your knowledge aligned with the EO/GI sector demands?” The presentation will introduce EO4GEO project and will ask attendants for their contribution to the different ongoing tasks.
One of the concrete outcomes identified as most interesting to stakeholders is a specific tool for defining/designing job profiles making use of the updated version of the GIS&T Body of Knowledge (BoK). Such a tool, together with the curriculum design tool, facilitates aligning supply (curricula after training) and demand (jobs), using the ontology-based BoK as an intermediary. EO4GEO is now gathering input from different stakeholders (academia, industry, professionals, students, etc.) in order to define functionalities to be included in the ecosystem of EO4GEO tools; specifically, for the Curriculum Design tool and Job Profile Tool. By presenting demos of the existing platform and associated tools, we intend to identify potential users’ demands and requirements for accurate project development.
