Second city in the 2021 tour of “Connecta con la ciencia”. After the initial outreach activities just realised in Segorbe, This week GEOTEC showed SUCRE4Stem to almost 200 students in the colorful “Casal Jove” building in Puerto de Sagunto (Valencia) in 7 sessions sdivided in two days.

The first day began with a welcome, institutional talk to introduce the “Conecta con la ciencia” action to the students. Then we showed Sucre4Stem in three consecutive sessions of 45 minutes each. Each one was a kind of “express” workshop for small groups of students (15 max per room, due to COVID restrictions) to get started with SucreCore and SucreCode to wire and programme IoT devices.

The second day consisted of 4 “express” sessions. Even though most of the students told us that they had no prior programming knowledge, let alone on sensors and actuators, they found SucreKit to be very intuitive and easy to program through SucreCode, the block-based web programming tool developer by GEOTEC.

We are happy to see that Sucre4stem, partially funded by FECYT, is attracting the attention of students who are faced with “something different”. How many of them will embarked on the Computer Science studies in the future?
