240 students interact with @PROGRAMASUCRE in “CONECTA CON LA CIENCIA” action – @GEOTECUJI @FECYT_CIENCIA with computational thinking at Puerto de Sagunto
This year’s “Connecta con la Ciencia [Connect with Science]” action has been very exciting for the Sucre and GEOTEC team. We doubled the number of participants for the Sucre4Stem workshop in Puerto de Sagunto! Last year, 100 students attended the workshops. It was an impressive start. This year, however, almost 250 students passed through the 12 workshops that we carried out during 3 intensive days (4, 5, and 7 November 2022).
In each workshop session, participants aged 15-16 years (4th ESO) were divided into groups of 3 or 4 to experiment SUCRE4Stem. They were introduced to the basic concepts of hardware/software, analogic/digital connectors, and sensors/actuators. After this brief introduction, each group wired some sensors and actuators to the Arduino-based SucreCore, which was programmed using our block-based, web-based application called SucreCode.
Each group sits around empty tables. Only one SucreKit and one tablet per table. All communication between Sucre4Stem components is wireless. This configuration favors that the members of each group communicate with each other, observe and and talk much more, in line with the idea of computational actions.
Special thanks to Alberto and Miguel, who kindly joined the Sucre team to help us in these frantic science-dissemination days
