GEOTEC en EuroGEOSS
The Geotec Group has participated in the design of a software tool that integrates information on forest cover, drought, and biodiversity generated by various European systems of Earth Observation.
This is a unique type of technology developed within the framework of the European project EuroGEOSS that combines resources from official sources and public input, and is aimed at facilitating access to relevant data to improve monitoring and land management.
EuroGEOSS, thus, is a project promoted by the European Commission whose aims is to contribute to GEOSS with an inventory of systems, resources and European services for environmental observation, specifically centered in three thematic areas that are strategically considered for Europe: Forest Cover, Drought and Biodiversity. The effort of the 22 partner in 10 different countries has led to a search engine called EuroGEOSS Broker. The greatest contribution of the project has been the design of a search tool to interconnect data and thus, contribute to better decision making, especially in the prevention and management of natural disasters.
