Irene García, a graduate of the Erasmus Mundus Master in Geospatial Technologies and member of the GEOTEC Research Group, participated in the 2013 Esri Summer Internship program in Redlands, California. This 12-week program is intended to provide working experience to interns by contributing in challenging and cutting-edge projects carried out at the company headquarters. In this case, Irene worked with the Product Management team to learn to use and apply an ArcGIS for Server extension, Geo Event Processor. This software is conceived to integrate real-time data streams coming from different sources into maps and provide a tool for users to create monitoring platforms using cartography as a basis to join all their GIS data. The main goal of Irene’s project is creating a Javascript client application using the Geo Event Processor to allow final users to configure their datastreams according to their requirements and display their real-time data on a map.
