Last Thursday, September 24th, the staff of GEOTEC along with students from the Geospatial Technologies master and from the GEO-C doctoral program assisted to the “Location Referencing Workshop”, lectured by Steven Ramage, Director of Strategy of the “what3words” enterprise. The workshop, held at UJI, started with an interactive part, where participant were encouraged to think about the need of a proper referencing system in several contexts, followed by a discussion on the topic. Ramage later explained key insights on the subject and presented the ideas behind what3words, particularly the new referencing systems they have created and their main application areas. He related what3words’ history, success stories and current developments. A Q&A section closed the 3 hours workshop. This workshop was part of the activities programmed for Introductory Teaching Event that the GEO-C doctoral student received at UJI during the last two weeks.
