GEOTEC @ IPIN 2015
The GEOTEC team was at the 6th Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation conference (IPIN 2015) which took place in Banff, Canada. The IPIN conference is the forum of excellence to join researchers, system developers, and service providers in the area of indoor positioning and navigation.
At IPIN 2015, GEOTEC presented its contribution to Indoor Positioning in the form of an oral communication, with accompanying long paper. The focus of the communication was the donation of the UJIIndoorLoc-Mag database to the Scientific Community. This database is the first publicly available database for indoor localization using the variations of the magnetic field. We consider that this contribution is useful for the research community. Researchers can use UJIIndoorLoc-Mag for testing their own indoor localization proposals based on magnetic field variations or performing data mining analysis. The database has been published at the UCI Machine Learning Repository:
Moreover, GEOTEC collaborated in the organization of the EvAAL competition that was held during the IPIN 2015 Conference. EvAAL is a competition that aims at establishing benchmarks and evaluation metrics for comparing Ambient Assisted Living solutions. Since 2011 they have organised one or more international competitions on specific aspects of AAL systems, with the long-term goal of evaluating complete AAL systems. In particular, GEOTEC organized the off-site track of the competition: Wi-Fi fingerprinting in large environments. For that track, the competitors had access to a large Wi-Fi fingerprint database (the UJIIndoorLoc), to which they applied their algorithms off-line. The UJIIndoorLoc is a multi-building and multi-floor database basd on Wi-Fi fingerprinting that is publicly available through the UCI Machine Learning Repository:
