The #app developd by @UbikGS an spin-off from @geotecUJI won a prize

The mobile app developed by UBIK Geospatial Solutions, spin-off from GEOTEC research group and the Local Police of Castelló de la Plana was awarded as the best project in public participation in VIII Congreso Nacional de Innovación y Servicios Públicos (CNIS) held in Madrid last 4th and 5th of April.

The main objective of the app is to build a security feeling map, besides it will evaluate the actions of the police and promote citizen participation among residents in Castelló de la Plana.

This mobile app is one of the tools enclosed in MESPol project, which consists also in an administration panel, to configure campaigns, questions and the target audience and a landing page https://mespolcs.es/

In the administration panel the Police of Castelló can prepare campaigns and questions to be addressed to the citizenship. At the end of each campaign, citizens feedback will be evaluated taking it into consideration for decision-making, thus, police actions can be prepared based on the results.

The app can be downloaded on iOS and Android from the landing page or in the apps market and users can answer anonymously the current campaign.

Aida Monfort, GEOTEC collaborator, was in charge of the project development, the mobile app was built using hybrid technology ionic, which allows us to write code in web language and then prepares the binaries for the two platforms iOS and Android. The mobile app and the admin panel are both connected to a real time database so, every answer recorded is immediately seen on the results, as most of the questions are location based the results can be reviewed in both graphs or maps from the city of Castelló.

The project is now under development of the second phase, which includes the ability to customize target audience based on their location, age, sex or membership to certain pre configured groups and send push customized notifications to engage users.
