#Reproducibility day at #AGILE PhD School 2019 #ReproducibleResearch
The fifth edition of the AGILE PhD School took place in Tartu, Estonia. Alexander Kmoch from University o Tartu was the main organiser of the school, which had a full day on geovisualisation, and another focused on soft skills such as oral communication and scientific writing. Compared to previous editions, the novelty this year was a full day on reproducibility and Data Carpentry hands-on materials. Timing was perfect to introduce this new topic because the upcoming AGILE 2020 conference is the first one in which the Author Guidelines for Reproducible Papers are part of the Call for Papers.
Frank Osterman (ITC, NL) and Carlos Granell gave a short (remote) presentation to the participants in the morning of 27th November. First, we explained what AGILE is, followed by an introduction to reproducibility, and finally we ended with the workshops and actions (https://o2r.info/reproducible-agile/) we did in recent years (and we plan to do soon) related to reproducibility in the context of AGILE.
It was @geotecUJI pleasure to have our PhD student Ditsuhi Iskandaryan attending the PhD school with other 15 students from all around Europe. Ditsuhi was pretty interested in sharing ideas and discussing common issues with other GIS PhD students.
Big thanks to Alex and Evelyn and the participants of the 5th AGILE PhD School 2019!
