@GermnMendozaSil defends his #PhDthesis about #indoor positioning systems
Early this week, on March 3rd, our colleague Germán M. Mendoza Silva defended his Ph.D. dissertation titled “Received Signal Strength (RSS) based Indoor Positioning Systems (IPSs)”. Under the direction of Dr. JoaquÃn Huerta Guijarro and Dr. JoaquÃn Torres Sospedra, German’s dissertation compiled a set of contributions to improve IPSs along several dimensions. The contributions included a meta-review on IPSs current status, guides and method to reduce the effort required for the environment characterization for fingerprinting-based systems, and guides and methods to improve the evaluation of those systems. Other outputs from his work include open datasets of Wi-Fi and BLE measurements, and applications, like the UJI’s Library App, that harnesses the experience from BLE-based positioning. The dissertation evaluation committee was integrated by Dr. F. Javier Zarazaga-Soria, Dr. Antoni Pérez Navarro, and Dr. Michael Gould. Germán’s research work will continue on improvements to BLE-based positioning and standardization efforts for IPS.
In GEOTEC we are very proud to have such a extraordinary person with us since he was a student in GEOTEC’s Master in Geospatial Technologies, and we wish Germán all the best.
Here you can see the list of publications done by Germán, which gives an excellent overview of the work he developed in GEOTEC.
