#WomeninCopernicus inspiring examples untapped @WomenCopernicus
From Universitat Jaume I de Castelló (GEOTEC research group) we are carrying out a (short-term) research project together with BreTel (Brittany Remote Sensing Group, France – coordinator) and SPW (Public Service of Wallonia, Belgium), and financed by the European project CoRdiNet. NEREUS, EARSC, EURISY, PLUS, University of Strasbourg and BELSPO also support this initiative.
The project is about the role that women play within the European Commision Copernicus program. It aims at making women’s work visible and knowing in which part of the production flow of Copernicus / Earth Observation (EO) / Geoinformation (GI) they participate and at what level. It also intends to showcase inspiring Copernicus women all over Europe who could bring (and encourage) female workforce to the sector.
In a first round a survey addressed to women who work (or have worked) with data or within the scope of Copernicus has been prepared. It is organized into 6 sections (demographics, background and career, barriers, facilitators, educational options and final). The survey has been prepared in English, Spanish, French, Italian, Greek and German.
In a second round we would select inspiring stories to be shared. So, if you have a success story to tell, don’t be shy!!Â
We kindly ask you to participate in the survey, distribute this questionnaire through your network of contacts or directly forward this email to women you know who work within the Copernicus program. Answering will only take 10 minutes.
