GEOTEC is happy to announce that Miguel Matey joined our team on November 1st as a FPU student. Miguel was awarded with a FPU grant from the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (FPU19/05352), being ranked the second in the computer science category of all Spain. Congratulations Miguel!

This 4-year grant will allow him to carry out his PhD studies with GEOTEC within the context of the Symptoms project, a GEOTEC research project that aims to assess and treat patients diagnosed with mental disorders using mobile devices, machine learning and location analysis. Specifically, his research will focus on employing advanced data analysis and visualization techniques to process data coming from smartphone’s embedded sensors and wearables, in order to assess the evolution of patients and provide real-time psychological intervention. In this way, it will be possible to reduce the delay between treatment adjustments. The ultimate goal is to support psychology professionals to better understand their patients’ behavior, and allow them to define appropriate psychological treatment accordingly.
