#H2OMap #Erasmusplus KA201 project about #mapping hydraulic heritage starting at @UJIUniversitat
Hydraulic heritage is particularly important for a territory, since it contributed to local development and economic growth, and water decisively influenced the development of human settlements throughout human history. On the other side, students have a lack of interest in STEM, especially amongts social science high schoolers , where the use of ICT tools is very limited to support their educational strategy.
By the adoption of innovative practices, H2OMap: Innovative Learning by Hydraulic Heritage Mapping general purpose is to promote the use of GIS for mapping hydraulic heritage. As a way to increase the quality of education in STEM, GIS as an ICT technology will put hydraulic heritage and water resources, as well the ethical and civil responsibility for their protection, in the center of the project.
This initiative, wich will run from September 2020 to August 2023, is being developed within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA2 call for projects for Strategic Partnerships in the Field of School Education and in the line of work on hydraulic heritage carried out by the FACSA Chair in Innovation in the Integrated Water Cycle at the Universitat Jaume I, the project coordinator.
GEOTEC group role will consist on developing an educational platform for hydraulic heritage mapping that will help high-school students in Spain, Portugal and Italy to (1) collect and map information in the field; (2) to make it openly available; and (3) to tell stories using maps from the information gathered in order to generate better understanding of the local heritage.
We are very happy to start this collaboration with Cátedra FACSA team, but also with the rest of members of the consortium
