ALBERT ACEDO NEW JUAN DE LA CIERVA (FORMACION) POSTDOC AT @GEOTECUJI !
GEOTEC is happy to announce that Albert Acedo joined our team on May 1st as a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellow. Albert was awarded a JdlC grant from the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (FJC2019-039230-I).
Albert is an alumnus of the Master in Geospatial Technologies, our Erasmus Mundus master jointly organized by the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (Germany), the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal) and the Universitat Jaume I (Spain), and afterwards pursued his PhD supported by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie International Training Network project GEO-C, organized by the same universities. During his Phd studies, Albert was located at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, NOVA Information Management School, with secondment and co-supervision at GEOTEC, UJI. After obtaining his Phd, he conducted a postdoctoral stay in Canada at the University of Waterloo and was involved in a European H2020 project (MEMEX).
Albert has a strong background in studying social aspects of spatial and place-related data/knowledge in urban contexts. During this 2-year grant, he will further develop these research lines in urban environments and also apply his social science knowledge to GEOTEC’s research line in mental health (SyMtOMS), where we aim to help patients diagnosed with mental disorders using mobile devices, machine learning and location analysis
At GEOTEC, we are excited to work with Albert once again, and we wish him all the best in this new journey in his academic career. Welcome, Albert!
