EO4GEO tools presented at multiple conferences/workshops this month
The EO4GEO platform and EO4GEO tools developed by GEOTEC have been presented in several events this month, including hands-on sessions for the participants to interact and better understand the tools.
Our colleague Sven Casteleyn presented the EO4GEO tools at the 24rd AGILE Conference, which took place virtually on the 8th of June. The ‘Bodies of Knowledge – Using concept maps for teaching and knowledge sharing in Geo-information and Earth Observation with innovative web tools.’ workshop included an introduction of the EO4GEO Body of Knowledge (BoK), a presentation of the BoK platform and tools and finally a demo with a hands-on session where participants could test the tools themselves.
At the 40th EARSeL Symposium, held on the 9th of June, Sven Casteleyn and other EO4GEO partners presented the EO4GEO platform and tools as part of the workshop ‘EO Education’. Also here, a hands-on session was foreseen, where participants were guided through the use of the different tools.
On June 17th, in the context of EARSC EXPANDEO 2021 conference, Sven Casteleyn showcased the EO4GEO platform and tools in the ‘Balancing the skills between industry workforce and training: the need for upskilling and reskilling in the sector’ session, which gave an overview of the challenges in terms of skills and training in the EO*GI sector including the views of several stakeholders. Next to a demo of the tools, a practical case of the tools in action in a micro-enterprise was presented by our EO4GEO partner, Giacomo Martirano (Epsilon Italia srl).
Finally, on the 2nd of July, the EO4GEO tools were presented at the “EO4GEO- Skills development in Earth Observation and Copernicus User Uptake: the present and future of Coastal and Maritime sector- The Azorean case” workshop organized by NEREUS in cooperation with the University of The Azores.
This time, our colleague Aida Monfort Muriach presented the tools – focusing on specific cases in the maritime sector – and conducted a hands-on session to let participants explore the use of the tools for use cases in their domain.
It has certainly been a busy but productive month in terms of dissemination of our development efforts in the EO4GEO project regarding the EO4GEO platform and tools, and we were happy to get positive feedback at each of these occasions.
