On Saturday, November 5, I saw the team of Diego Lacomba, Marcos García, Álvaro Galiana and Javier Romero enjoying a great sandwich (“bocata”) with a large cup of coffee with milk on the terrace of a bar. Everyone drinking coffee? That’s weird! Eating mid-morning in Spain does not include coffee with milk, but water, coke, beer and even wine for the brave. I realize after a while that they didn’t sleep last night. It was a halfway break to recover strength in the development of the Mobicas app, which finally won the first prize of the Hackaton Facsa 2022 edition.

The bang of four designed and implemented the app in 48 hours. Mobicas unifies the means of transport in Castellón, facilitating its use, and also alerting users with information on bonuses, schedules, stops, etc. In keeping with the times, the team also seriously considered sustainable mobility, as the tool offered a rewards system based on completing challenges, so that the points obtained could be exchanged for discount coupons for leisure activities, food or travel.

We are proud at GEOTEC to have previous winners in the past, like the winners of the AppChallenge and the Smart Agriculture award with SEnviro. The list keeps increasing: Congratulations to the Mobicas team! Diego is now a member of GEOTEC and takes over the activities that Marcos did in the past in GEOTEC. It is a pleasure for GEOTEC that two collaborators think and design good stuff for a better and sustainable world!
