After having been running for 4 years, plus an extension of 6 months, the EO4GEO project came to an end in June 2022. The project aimed to close the skill gap between educational offer and sectorial demand through a series of initiatives ,studies, actions and resources, all of which were developed during the project.

It were four years of interesting work, plenty of international collaborations (25 partners from 13 EU countries in EO4GEO!) and cooperations between academia and the public and private sector. GEOTEC contributed significantly to the success of the project, with major contributions in updating the Body of Knowledge and especially, the development of the BoK Platform and the BoK tools, among other smaller contributions.

So, that’s it? No! The EO4GEO project transitioned towards the EO4GEO Alliance, whose goal is “to maintain, enhance and further develop the EO4GEO project results, as well as to engage its members in new initiatives and projects devoted to achieve the strategic objectives set in the EO4GEO Sector Skills Strategy, for which sources of funding are being identified at European as well as at national and regional level”. The Alliance Kick-Off meeting was held on 22nd of November 2022, and we are happy that our GEOTEC colleague Sven Casteleyn was elected as Steering Committee Member. Now … let’s work hard and see if we can continue our EO4GEO-related work, collaborations and developments!
