The SUCRE team conducted 10 engaging sessions across the rural primary schools of Castelló
These February and March, schools in Albocàsser, Les Coves de Vinromà, Vall d’Alba, and Benlloc had a special addition to their curriculum. The SUCRE programme (www.programasucre.com), dedicated to developing computational thinking among pre-university students, held ten sessions for year 4, 5, and 6 students, impacting around 180 eager young minds.
The sessions, each lasting about an hour, were abuzz with enthusiasm. Students dived into Sucre4Steam, a platform designed to match their level of learning. They worked with ‘Basic Blocks’, a new version that introduces the essentials of programming in a fun and engaging way, perfect for the upper years of primary school.
Organised by the CDR Alt Maestrat (Centre for Rural Development Alt Maestrat), these workshops aligned with International Day of Women and Girls in Science, adding significance to the event by highlighting the importance of inclusive scientific engagement from a young age.
