The annual ESRI Spain conference was held last week in Madrid. The current edition gathered more than 2,000 professionals from 400 different organizations, and was the most important GIS event in our country. Our group was there and presented one of the latest improvements in smart cities: SmartVenue.

SmartVenue is a mobile application that benefits from the services of the ArcGIS platform; it focuses on the organization and management of events. Based on the available mapping, the organizer can put each activity on its location and time frame.

Users can search and save their favorite activities, plan their schedule, calculate the optimal route between activities by means of the WiFi fingerprint indoor positioning. Also, they can receive alerts or comments (on social networks) based on their schedule or location.
