As he already did in 2022, it’s time for Ionut Sandric from the Faculty of Geography, University of Bucharest, to visit GEOTEC. During three days (27-29 Nov 2023), Ionut gave a (practical) introductory course on data collection/acquisition/processing with Drones. 

The seminar was divided into 3 days. On Monday (November 27), Ionut introduced the participants, mainly students from the Erasmus Mundus MSc in Geospatial Technologies and GEOTEC members, to the EU regulations for flying UAVs, the basics for flight planning, accompanied by practical activities for preparing flight plans. On Tuesday (November 28), the participants had fun collecting images such as orthoimages and 3D scenes on a rural area in Vila-real with 2 UAVs. The content of the last session on Wednesday (November 29) focused on the organization of the collected data, the reading of metadata files and their management, along with processing tasks with ArcGIS Pro and Drone2Map.
