GeoTec moves to new building!
After a long time of discussing, planning, and many postponed deadlines, the GEOTEC lab finally moved to the new building, “Investigación II” (see the campus map), third floor. We had some busy weeks packing, moving our computers, screens, (luckily, for the office furniture and other heavy-lifting items a moving company was contracted) and installing everything on-site. Find some pictures of our new offices, before and after the move, in this post.
The new building was recently inaugurated by the rector, at which occasion it also received the “five green leaves” (“cinco hojas verdes”) award for sustainability. The award recognises the building’s sustainability properties in terms of location in relation to the environment, indoor environmental quality, resources used (energy, water and materials), integration and technical quality with respect to maintenance and documentation. In Spain, UJI is one of the few proud owners of this maximum certificate.
For many of us, Espaitec II was the only home we have known at UJI, and even though we were happy there, it’s exciting to now migrate to our brand new, sustainable offices, where we’ll continue our research on geospatial and related technologies.
