About

Our history

Senior researchers at the University Jaume I have been working in computer graphics and GIS since the mid-1990s. The Geospatial Technologies (Geotec) research group was created on July 29, 2012, spinning-off from the Interactive Visualization Center (CeVI) to focus on its own line of research in geospatial technologies. Since 2014 our participation in research and development projects has grown, as has our staff number. Geotec group has a clear international orientation, both in the composition of its workforce and the nature and clientele of its projects, financed by European entities or involving partners from all over the world.

Mission

Geotec is a research group specialized in geospatial technologies and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) development. We tackle everyday problems with a geospatial view, facing these challenges from a multidisciplinary approach, trying different theoretical perspectives and practices that respond to social and environmental problems, such as mobility, transport, aging population, environmental health or education.

Vision

We pursue to strengthen the image of Geotec within the world of research, becoming a reference group for organizations and companies. We continue to grow, improving day by day our skills to achieve and address more complex issues, crossing and hybridizing (even) the limits of Geo.
