GEOTEC is happy to announce the return of our colleague Alberto González Pérez to our team after a well-deserved rest. In July, Alberto received an FPU grant from the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (FPU17/03832), being ranked first for computer science for all Spain. Congratulations Alberto! This 4-year grant will allow him to carry out his PhD studies.

As a PhD student, Alberto will continue his master’s thesis work on the Symptoms platform, a GEOTEC research project that aims to assess and treat patients with a mental disorder using mobile devices. Specifically, his research will focus on employing data analysis and visualization techniques to process data coming from smartphone’s embedded sensors, in order to assess the evolution of the patient and provide real-time psychological intervention. In this way, it will be possible to reduce the delay between treatment adjustments. The ultimate goal is to support psychology professionals to better understand their patients’ behavior, and allow them to define appropriate psychological treatment accordingly.
