BlueGovLab: 2nd seminar
The Blue Governance Laboratory (BlueGovLab) at Universitat Jaume I successfully comeplted tits activisi in 2025. After the first seminar on “Seas in Transition: Blue Governance in the Face of Environmental and Technological Challenges” held on October 2025, the second seminar took place on November 5, 2025 with the titled “Remote Sensing Systems Applied to Marine Research“. The seminar aimed to address recent advances in the application of remote sensing technologies (remote sensing, etc.) to marine and ocean research projects.

Researcher LluÃs Pesquer from the Centre for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF), who is the contact point for CREAF partner in the European AquaINFRA project, shared his experience studying the Mediterranean through the development of data infrastructures and interoperability for marine research.
Mélanie Juza, a researcher with the Balearic Islands Coastal Observing System (SOCIB), presented the applications developed from satellite remote sensing data in the Mediterranean Sea, including the monitoring of ocean indicators and the detection of marine heatwaves, as well as the progress in the Balearic Sea Digital Twin being implemented within the SOCIB framework.
Dulce Mata Chacón, a researcher at the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO-CSIC), provided a perspective focused on the management, visualization, and use of marine data, based on her experience in projects such as IDEO and iEO Marino GIS. During her presentation, she reflected on the role of remote sensing in the observation and analysis of the ocean environment and in the integration of marine information systems.
